SUMMARY:ICAN Act On It Forum in Oslo
DESCRIPTION:ICAN and ICAN Norway are very happy to announce the ICAN Act On It Forum in Oslo\, 9-10 March 2023. \nYou are invited\, buy tickets here. \nDo you want to volunteer? Check out how. \nRead our Oslo Travel Guide here. \n  \nThe global movement against nuclear weapons is stronger than ever. States\, cities\, parliamentarians\, civil society\, survivors and people everywhere are being heard: nuclear weapons must be eliminated! \nNuclear weapons are the most destructive\, inhumane and indiscriminate weapons ever created\, for which there is no humanitarian response. The unacceptable risk demands that we take action. \nBut some refuse to listen. Nuclear-weapon-complicit states are doing little to support the disarmament movement. This must change. \nNuclear-weapon-complicit states are those which may not have their own nuclear weapons\, but are enablers of the status quo by pretending to be in favour of nuclear disarmament while also actively supporting nuclear weapons in their national security policies. \nAt the ICAN Act On It Forum\, we will focus on these states and how to get them to join global movement to end nuclear weapons. \nAll states must join the majority and act on their responsibility to create a world without nuclear weapons. It’s time to Act On It! \n  \nAbout the forum\nTen years ago\, Norway hosted the first conference on the humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons. It became obvious that these weapons should never again be used. \nThe UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) adopted by 122 states in 2017 solidified what has been established for decades: nuclear weapons are inhumane and unacceptable! The TPNW is the result of a world majority saying NO to nuclear weapons. \nNow it is time for nuclear-weapon-complicit states to join the majority and act on their responsibility to create a world without nuclear weapons. \nWe meet in Oslo to apply the lessons of states\, civil society\, activists\, survivors and others working to abolish nuclear weapons. Together we will increase the pressure on nuclear weapon complicit states. During the conference you will get the opportunity to learn\, share and discuss strategies and skills for how to make these states dissociate from nuclear weapons. \nJoin us in Oslo to echo the voices of the many demanding the end of these unlawful and inhumane weapons. \n  \nPractical information\nThe forum will be held at Sentralen in Oslo\, Norway on the 9th and 10th of March 2023. \nThe two day forum will be filled with workshops\, speakers\, panels and discussions about how we can abolish nuclear weapons.
